Tools and supplies needed for firmware programming (optional):

Your kit comes with the chip pre-programmed with the latest firmware version.  

If you wish to dabble in the firmware code*, you'll need:

  • Basic knowledge of software code structure
  • Basic knowledge in the C programming language
  • An AVR Programmer. USBTiny is inexpensive and works well
  • Visual Micro or other development IDE plug-in - this facilitates navigating the code structure

Capabilities needed for assembly:

  • Read a schematic
  • Electronics soldering
  • Basic understanding of electronics
  • Basic woodworking skills
    • gluing
    • hammering nails in
    • squaring a box frame

If you need a refresher on any of the above subjects, search the Internet and  you'll find a number of excellent resources. YouTube is a great resource for video tutorials. 

Average Assembly Time - 7 to 14 hours:

  • Door Frame - about 2 to 4 hours
